If the face in your mirror looks tired and unhappy, and you are neither of those things, then you may be a perfect candidate for neurotoxin treatment.
Neurotoxins, with trade names such as Botox, Xeomin and recently Jeauveau, have been around for a long time now. Quite by accident, doctors discovered while using it to treat facial spasms, that Botox was also highly effective in removing crow’s feet lines around the eyes. The magic is not just in the toxin, but the technician’s ability to use it in the right sites and at the proper strength—and our practitioners are licensed, trained, and experienced at doing it right!
How it Works
A neurotoxin is injected into muscles and used, with FDA approval, to temporarily improve the look of both moderate and severe crow’s feet lines and frown lines between the eyebrows in adults. It works by relaxing muscles that cause those lines.
Treatment & Results
For crow’s feet lines, a neurotoxin is injected into the muscle surrounding the sides of your eyes (the orbicularis oculi muscle). For frown lines, a neurotoxin is injected into two muscles, between and above your eyebrows (the corragator and procerus muscles). Neurotoxin injections are highly effective, and if done correctly, will not alter your ability for natural facial expression. You will feel a sharp pinch as the needle goes in, which some people tolerate. But if worrisome to you, ice treatment and/or lidocaine topical numbing cream will help. Side effects can occur and will be explained to you. For instance, 3% of patients experienced eyelid drooping in frown lines studies, and 1% of patients experienced eyelid swelling in crow’s feet studies. Other possible side effects, which are usually temporary, may include discomfort or pain at the injection site, inflammation, swelling, tenderness, redness, or bruising. Some patients have headaches and eye problems such as temporary double or blurred vision. Neurotoxin injections can have dramatic effects, giving your face a fresh, rested, younger look that will last for several months. The effects often take 7 days to show up and gradually improve from there, with maximum improvement at around 2–3 months. Your face will tell the world, “I got a great night’s sleep, and I’m bursting with energy!”
