A breakthrough in treatment for Migraine could be the miracle you’ve been waiting for!
One of the most heartening developments in migraine treatment is the discovery that Botox® can be added to the list of treatments for migraine patients. Botox received FDA approval for the treatment of chronic migraine in October 2010. Chronic migraine is defined as headaches occurring on 15 or more days each month, at least half of which have the features of a migraine. If you’ve tried everything else to no avail, talk to our treatment team to see if Botox is for you.
How it Works
The short answer: we don’t fully know. However, Botox injections are thought to work by blocking the release of certain brain chemicals including acetylcholine and by blocking nerves that send pain messages to the brain as well as relaxing muscles so they are less sensitive to pain.
